Today I want to share my heart with you and why I feel called to go to Ethiopia, Africa. When I started this journey a few months ago, I really didn’t think much about going to a 3rd world country but that has all changed now. Being involved with World Impact Solutions and taking a closer look at the needs around the world really opened my eyes. I realized the more I learned the more I couldn’t sit on the sidelines and not doing anything to help. WIS has given me an opportunity to save the lives of children all over the world from this tiny little island in the middle of the pacific. I simply purchase life saving products such as mosquito nets, water filtration, and micronutrients and this company sends them to a child in need. How amazing is that?
So the question you are asking now is if you can save the life of child from where you are why go to Ethiopia? Good question!
God has called me to be a voice for those who don’t have one. I want to share a scripture with you from Proverbs. This is the core of my ministry and why I’m doing what I’m doing!
Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy”.
We all have a voice that we need to use to help others! Our voice is a gift from God. If we don’t speak out for the destitute, then who will? Now that we have amazing technology we can share our message across Social Media platforms. Humanitarian efforts can share their mission all over the world with the tools that we have been given. Why not use it for good? Why not share an article or post to your field of influence to make a greater impact? Why not donate to a cause that you really care about? We all can do something with our resources, talents, and time. It doesn’t take very long, but it can actually make a great impact! Think about it? What will you do?
Now let’s talk about Ethiopia! I cannot tell you how many people I have met across social media platforms in the last few months that are centered around this country. I have met amazing people who are in the field doing life changing work. God continually brings people into my life that are somehow tied to this country. First, I want to talk about a gentleman I met by the name of Michael Smith. He lived in Ethiopia with his family when he was boy and it had a major impact on his life. He has taken his son quite a few times to see the children they have sponsored through Compassion International. He has shared so much with me about this country from his experience. I’m so grateful to have met him. I believe God has used him to guide me to this amazing country. I also have met Carmen and Trent Post who are from Charlotte, NC. They have a ministry called Make Your Mark in Addis Ababa where the reside with their family. They rescue boys off of the street and bring them into a center where they are fed, counseled, and rehabilitated. This is one of the ministries I will be visiting while I’m there. You can see my recent post called Make Your Mark to learn more about them. There is another mission I will be visiting called No Ordinary Love Ministries. What they do is reunite children back to their families. There was a story recently where a young girl was separated from her family for 2 years and then was reunited with them. The parents thought she was dead since she was missing for so long. Watching the video of the reunification brought me to tears when her parents saw her for the first time. There are other ministries I know that God is going to lead me too also.
What is my purpose for this mission? My purpose is to learn about the culture of this country and meet the people. I’m also going there to see first hand what these ministries are doing and how it is impacting these villages. Last, but not least and I feel the most important thing is to use my voice when I return to share my experience with all of you!
There is a story behind this journey that needs to be written. I believe God has called me for such a time as this to share this life changing experience. I know that this will be life changing for me, but also it will be life changing for every person I meet over there and I know it will change the lives of the people who follow my journey.
What story do you need to write? How does God want to use you? Where has He called you? What gifts and talents do you have that can change the world? I want to encourage you to seek God and find out what those things are. He has an amazing story for you to write, but you have to allow Him to hold the pen of your life and let him write the story through you.
Let go and let God lead you on this amazing journey! I promise you will stand in awe of what He will do when you walk by faith and not by sight. Just believe!
I want to say thanks to those who have supported me on this journey to Africa so far. I really appreciate each one of you. It blesses my heart to hear you tell me that you must go and I’m going to help you get there. Mahalo for believing in this dream with me.
You can help me get to Africa and save a life at the same time. Simply go to World Impact Solutions. It just takes a few minutes, but what it will do will save a life! You can make a difference, but together we can change the world!
